Geometry as a vortex, far from the noisy world.
It’s highly likely that the right angle was an essentially human discovery, the outcome of a simple fold. A first curving of space, or, more specifically, the lines traced by the two-dimensional plane, forced into a third dimension, is what created the burst of history and civilisation. And, each time an artist retraces the geometric trail, each time he transitions from general to specific, result turns to transcendent matrix, mental vortex, abyssal warp. It’s an artistic path taking place away from the concrete, putrid, hysterical, noisy world (...)

Virginia Toma’s exhibition “Intersecție” (Intersection) opened on 4 October 2017 at H’art Appendix on Calea Victoriei.
Dan Popescu’s text reads the right angle as an essentially human discovery, born of a simple fold. Retracing the geometric path from the general to the specific, the artist arrives at transcendent matrices and mental vortices, in a practice that turns its back on the concrete world.
