A face becomes something else.
Bianca Mann starts with two casts of her own face: one smiling, one serious. Repeated, mirrored and rescaled, these expressions become forms that gradually escape the portrait.
Colour brings another ambiguity to the fibreglass and silicone sculptures. A butterfly, an animal, a creature without a name: each viewer finds a different likeness. The object holds its shape while the image we make of it keeps shifting.
