The industrial past, pulled into the present by forceps.
With disarming sincerity, the artist documents the remains of local memory, yet, through the touring nature of this exhibition, he also draws our attention to the landscapes and remnants of post-industrial artefacts found all over the country. It is an exhibition about vulnerability and strength, about nostalgia and nonchalance, about the past, pulled by forceps into the present, so as to prepare us for the future.
From 1 September to 2 October 2022, the Constanța Art Museum hosted Nicolae Comănescu’s painting exhibition Scrap Metal Kaboom Orchestra in its ground-floor space for temporary shows, as one stop on the exhibition’s tour.
Comănescu documents the remains of local memory, the post-industrial landscapes and artefacts found all over the country. It is an exhibition about vulnerability and strength, nostalgia and nonchalance, about a past brought into the present to prepare us for the future.
